Kolkata, June 30 (IANS) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Modi Thursday said the prime minister should come under the purview of the Lokpal.
‘Prime minister should also come under the purview of the Lokpal because corruption is a very big issue,’ Modi said during the 83rd Annual General Meeting of the Indian Chambers of Commerce (ICC) here.
He said under a new law in Bihar, the state government could confiscate the properties of its employees against whom cases of acquiring assets disproportionate to their income were going on.
‘We can confiscate properties of employees against whom disproportionate assets cases are going on,’ he said.
On the introduction of the proposed Goods and Services Tax 6(GST) in the country, Modi said, ‘Bihar is in favour of GST and reform. GST should be implemented in the country. Bihar is for reform.’
The deputy chief minister said a new industrial policy will be introduced in Bihar July 1.
He said the state was able to attract a large amount of investment in a short time.
‘A total of Rs.2,000 crore investment is already done,’ he stated.
On land acquisition, Modi said: ‘Our first priority is agriculture. Industry has to pay more for lands. If a farmer willingly gives land to industry, he will get 240 percent more price for land over the market value.’
Stating that the state has only two power plants of 150 MW, he said the government has got 56 proposals for setting up new power plants.
‘We have no coal linkages…if this problem is sorted out, then we will be self-sufficient in five years,’ he added.
