New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) A 12-year-old boy was doused with petrol and set on fire by a man who got infuriated by the youngster playing a prank on him, police said Friday.

‘The incident was reported from Mangolpuri area of west Delhi Friday afternoon and the injured Abdul Aleem has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital with 30 percent burn injuries,’ said a senior police officer.

Police said the incident took place outside shop number 1124 by the name of Aslam Electronic Shop in Y block of Mangolpuri.

Police said Yogesh, in his 30s, works at Aslam Electronic Shop while Abdul Aleem works in a shop just across his.

‘This afternoon, Abdul sprinkled some cold water over Yogesh while he was working, which infuriated him. He picked up a can of petrol lying near by and threw it over the boy and then set him on fire,’ said the officer.

Police said that people present at the place doused the fire and saved Abdul.

‘Yogesh has been detained and investigation is on. Abdul’s condition is said to be out of danger,’ said the officer.
