New Delhi, July 2 (IANS) Delhi Police Saturday said that crime rate in the capital had fallen in the first half of this year by 2.7 percent as compared to last year.

‘Crime per lakh population has decreased from last year’s rate of 313.6 to 311.23 this year,’ Gupta said at the half yearly press briefing.

He said that 155 new emergency response vehicles, one in each police station, had been introduced with a view to perform anti-terror tasks and be the first one to respond to a distress call.

Gupta added that one police station in each of the 11 police districts would be declared a model police station based on prompt registration of crimes and improved infrastructure for visitors and policemen.

‘There would be effective complaint redressal and feedback mechanism. The model police stations are instructed to have time-bound disposal of complaints,’ he said.
