New Delhi, July 2 (IANS) The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will take part in the all-party meeting on the anti-graft Lokpal bill, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani said Saturday and asserted that the alliance wants a strong and effective Lokpal bill.
‘We will go (for the meeting on Sunday) and convey our viewpoint,’ Advani said after a meeting of the NDA leaders at his residence.
He said the BJP wants that the bill should be such that it results in an effective and strong Lokpal.
Advani said the Shiv Sena had conveyed that it will not attend the meeting but the party may change its stance after the NDA’s decision.
BJP sources said the party will attend the meeting Sunday but it may respond only to a draft legislation approved by the union cabinet and introduced in parliament.
Before the NDA meeting Saturday, the BJP appeared to be in two minds on participating in the meeting though its allies Janata Dal-United and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) were in favour of participation.
