Shanghai, July 3 (IANS) Many university students in Shanghai are trying to turn their last days of college into an unforgettable time of their campus life with love, laughter – and a bit of naughtiness.

With China’s graduation season being under way, they are putting up love-filled humorous banners all around, Shanghai Daily reported.

As one of the red banners emblazoned with white characters hung outside the dormitory of Fudan University’s philosophy department reads: ‘Stop chasing after me! My heart only belongs to 07 philosophy department female students.’

‘Give up your fantasies! We love only 07 philosophy department male students,’ reads a matching banner hung nearby.

Having been together for four years since 2007, these students wanted to flatter each other for fun before saying goodbye, said Wu Man, a senior in the department and co-writer of one of the banners.

Similar banners are fluttering on other local campuses, as students are making the days a big fun with good-humoured messages or tributes to their classmates.

Some of these students have used quilts and mosquito curtains to display their messages. Like, one of the graduating students wrote: ‘Juniors, I will come back to marry you after finding a job.’

While some of the officials view it as creative expressions of young life, others have taken objection to it.

In admiration of youth’s spirit, Yang Yifan, a Shanghai Jiao Tong University teacher has issued ‘model couple certificates’ to several senior lovebirds at the university’s School of Electronic, Information and Electrical Engineering.

‘I gave them the certificates to express my best wishes to the graduates as they begin a new life journey, and I hope they will cherish their university love,’ he said.

However, officials at Xi’an University of Science and Technology in China’s Shaanxi province removed a banner minutes after female students hung it outside their dorm.
