New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) Offering free health check-ups and legal counselling on issues related to domestic violence, divorce and dowry harassment, NGOs and the Delhi government organised a camp in west Delhi, a statement said Saturday.

The camp was held Friday at Khaira village on the outskirts of the city and had the main theme of tackling anaemia.

‘The focus of the health camp was the Dalit community in the village. Around 200 people attended the camp, including girls and women between the ages of 13-70,’ said NGO Apne Aap, which works in the field of human trafficking.

‘A general physician, a pediatrician and a gynaecologist provided medical advice at the camp. It was organised under the Mission Convergence programme of the Delhi government,’ it added.

Parivar Seva Sanstha, another NGO, set up a pathology lab to test anaemia among women and provided iron tablets to those in need.

‘A legal support counter was also set up with an advocate ready to help any woman with problems like domestic violence and dowry harassment,’ the statement added.
