Kolkata, July 28 (IANS) A Rs.10 crore museum dedicated to the life and teachings of 16th century saint and social reformer Chaitanya Mahaprabhu will come up here.
‘The museum will be spread over 15,000 sq feet at our math in Baghbazar,’ said Sanyasi Maharaj, secretary of Gaudiya Mission, a religious body. This will be to mark the 500th year of Mahaprabhu’s renunciation.
‘We hope to get financial help from the central and state governments. We will also collect money from the public,’ he said.
Museologist Arjyaman Chowdhuri said: ‘The museum will be one of its kind. Technology, aesthetics and philosophy, all will culminate to create a unique story telling museum depicting the life, culture and philosophy of Chaitanya.’
The construction is expected to start next year and it will be completed in three years.
