Tripoli, July 29 (IANS) Libyan rebels’ military chief Abdel Fattah Younes was Thursday killed in an attack by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces, Xinhua reported.
Opposition leader Moustafa Abdel-Jalil confirmed the death at a press conference in Benghazi, the country’s second largest city and a rebel stronghold.
Jalil, chairman of the National Transitional Council (NTC), added that two other military leaders were killed.
NTC will hold a three-day mourning for Younes’ death. Younes, a former security minister of Gaddafi’s regime, had joined the opposition in February.
