Oslo, July 29 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Anders Breivik, the lone man arrested for killing 76 people in Oslo in two terror attacks, planned to carry out more attacks on the same day, his lawyer has said.

‘Breivik planned to carry out a few more attacks on July 22, on a slightly different scale. However, something happened, about which I can’t yet speak, and his plans didn’t come to anything,’ Geir Lippestad told Norway’s Aftenposten newspaper.

Police did not make any comment.

Breivik has confessed to a bomb attack near the prime minister’s office and shooting at a youth camp at Utoya island. He has, however, not accepted criminal responsibility, saying his actions were ‘atrocious but necessary’ measures intended to ‘save Norway and Western Europe’ from a ‘Muslim takeover’.

Lippestad believes his client is ‘insane’.
