Caracas, July 31 (IANS/EFE) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, recovering after a surgery to remove a cancerous tumour, is now keen on doing exercises and constantly talks about the need for healthy routines.

State television broadacst Saturday new footage of Chavez wearing sports clothing and performing exercises together with some of his officials.

The footage – edited and set to music – shows an ‘enthusiastic’ Chavez directing the physical exercises of his ministers, who lift hands and legs along with the president.

‘Healthy government, healthy body, healthy mind, a healthy people. We have to give an example in that as well, stay in good physical shape, eat healthy. Listen, we have a stomach and sometime we swallow rocks and garbage,’ the president said.

Chavez had surgery in Havana in June.

He commented on his good state of health, which he said was enabling his ‘full recovery’.

He said he dreams of reaching 90 years with ‘white hair’ and being with his grandchildren.

State television has been showing shots of different moments in Chavez’s recovery process, particularly to coincide with the president’s birthday last Thursday, and to actively promote the head of state and his government.

Chavez said his most recent medical exams in Havana showed he has no cancerous cells.
