Patna, Aug 30 (IANS) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi Tuesday said the Congress was conspiring to delay a strong Lokpal Bill.
‘The Congress is again working hard to conspire to delay a strong Lokpal Bill as it delayed it in the last over four decades,’ Modi said.
‘The Congress did not want a strong Lokpal Bill, it was evident from the way it tried to suppress the Jan Lokpal Bill of Anna Hazare,’ Modi said.
Modi also questioned Bihar former chief minister Lalu Prasad’s statement in parliament on the Lokpal Bill. ‘Lalu’s remark on the Lokpal Bill was shameful,’ he said.
He said that after a strong Lokpal Bill is passed in parliament in the next session, the central government should bring in legislations on right to recall elected representatives and right to reject candidates contesting elections.
