Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30 (IANS) The first ever Nasscom executive council (EC) meet held here Friday saw three member IT companies deciding to set shop in Kerala.
‘Aegis, one of the biggest BPOs in the country, has decided it will set shop in Thiruvananthapuram besides two other IT firms,’ said V.K. Mathews, the only EC member from Kerala and the head of state’s leading IT firm IBS Software Services.
Kerala has some 300 IT companies employing close to 50,000 professionals.
‘Of the 1,300 member Nasscom companies, 27 are from Kerala. At the meet, the eighth office of Nasscom was opened here. Now we will start interacting with the companies here besides trying to promote entrepreneurship,’ said Nasscom chairman Rajendra Pawar.
The EC is the highest decision-making body of Nasscom. The officials also held a meeting with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
‘It was an interesting and productive meeting. They have committed to us they would take active part in the ‘Emerging Kerala 2012′ investor meet and that is going to benefit us hugely,’ said Chandy.
Nasscom officials also urged Chandy to improve the social infrastructure in the state.
