Kathmandu, July 3 (Inditop.com) King of pop Michael Jackson’s untimely death last week spurred fresh public interest in him worldwide. Now an enterprising restaurant in Kathmandu, a city that was not in the singer’s ken, is hoping to cash in on that.
The Bourbon Room, a bar cum restaurant in the capital’s upmarket Durbar Marg area, is advertising a “Michael Jackson tribute night” Friday hoping to push up sale.
Its Friday night Australian DJ Maria will be playing Jackson’s songs while the bar will serve “Michael Jackson theme cocktails”.
Mercifully, it is not mandatory to wear Michael Jackson-themed clothes.
Ironically, the singer had converted to Islam last year, which forbids alcohol.
But such a small detail will not stand in the way of business promotion in a city where competition is becoming cut-throat and every occasion, be it a birth or death, is explored for better business.
In the last few years, when Nepal was still a Hindu kingdom with conversions banned, Nepal’s five-star hotels began promotional Christmas parties.
