Lucknow, Nov 1 (IANS) In a three-month-old honour killing case, a man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district for killing his daughter over her love affair, police said Tuesday.

Baburam, 50, of Piliyani village had shot dead his 24-year-old daughter in July over her affair with a youth of the same village. Baburam along with his brother-in-law Ram Bhajan and friend Radhey Shyam dumped her body on the railway tracks in Farrukhabad district.

Farrukhabad police that was investigating the case after the girl’s body was recovered in July, arrested Baburam, Shyam late Monday from Mainpuri, some 300 km from here. Police are yet to trace Bhajan.

‘Though the three accused had tried their best to give the accident angle to their crime, we became suspicious when the post-mortem confirmed that she had bullet injuries,’ police inspector Sunil Dutt told reporters in Farrukhabad, 200 km from Lucknow.

‘Our team got to know that Baburam was strictly opposing his daughter’s affair with a youth of the village. On suspicion, we detained him. When he confessed to his crime, he was arrested,’ the officer added.
