Brussels, Nov 2 (IANS) Antwerp, the Belgian city famous for its diamond trade, will play host to a high-level business summit, the Global India Business Meeting 2012, EuAsiaNews reported.

The meeting is scheduled to take place June 24-25 next year.

The two-day meet will be attended by more than 300 top businessmen from India, Europe and other parts OF Asia, the Gulf countries and from North America, said Sunil Prasad, secretary-general of the Brussels-based Europe India Chamber of Commerce (EICC).

The government of Belgium has agreed to host the meeting, organised by the international organisation Horasis, with support from the EICC, Prasad said.

The conference is aimed at strengthening trade and economic relations between India and Belgium and will offer opportunities for business collaboration in the two countries, he said.

Prasad added that although it is hoped that the global economic situation will improve in the next few months by the time the event is held, the business summit will take place in the midst of global economic uncertainty and challenges faced by Indian business leaders on doing business with Europe.

The summit will, therefore, assume special significance as to how Indian and global businesses can join together to avoid economic recession and how global business leaders address these challenges, he added.
