Panaji, Nov 2 (IANS) Memories of jam sessions on pristine Goan beaches in the 1970s and flowing, glamourous evening gowns of the time will be the flavour of ace designer Wendell Rodricks’ latest collection, which will be unveiled Thursday here as part of the Blenders Pride Magical Nights tour.
According to Rodricks, the 1970s-like soiree would be an apt do to launch Goa’s party season.
Speaking to reporters Wednesday while announcing the launch of his Aquarius collection, which cuts back to the 1960s and 1970s, Wendell said that the ensemble was a ‘reflection of the rock decadence of a very special period’.
‘This is a 70s statement, a flavour of time, inspired by a very 1970s Goa, when we used to go for jam sessions at Calangute beach. We’d go in the mornings and spend a day there…Something you cannot do now,’ said Rodricks, who is based in Goa.
The collection, which comprises an infusion of ‘high voltage energy in a palette of whites, blues, magenta and black in a variety of cottons, linen and silk’, boasts of Rodrick’s trademark classic minimalist touch.
The 55 dresses, which are a part of this creation, some of which will be brought to life on the ramp by Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, are part of a creation put together for Fiama Di Wills – Aqua Pulse.
