Bhubaneswar, Nov 2 (IANS) Hardening its stand against corrupt public servants, Orissa Wednesday opened a homoeopathic dispensary in the confiscated house of a tainted former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official in state capital Bhubaneswar.
Soon after the inauguration, dozens of patients visited the dispensary in the house of Sanjib Kumar Ray, convicted in a disproportionate assets case in January, in Gandamunda area of the city.
‘This dispensary will provide free treatment to public,’ said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The state government had been taking exemplary action against convicted corrupt public servants, including dismissal from service and recovery of penalty from pension, he said.
The convicted IAS officer retired from in 2004 as additional secretary in the state co-operation department.
The government confiscated his immovable property recently on the basis of a direction from a special vigilance court.
