Kabul, Dec 1 (IANS) At least three Taliban militants were killed and 29 captured in a country-wide ‘clean-up’ operation in Afghanistan, the interior ministry said Thursday.

The Afghan National Police (ANP), backed by army and international coalition forces, launched seven operations in Ghazni, Uruzgan, Wardak, Logar, Kandahar and Helmand provinces, Xinhua reported citing a ministry statement.

Weapons and ammunition were also seized during the raids.

Over 230 Taliban militants have been killed and around 300 detained in November alone, the ministry said.

The Taliban were yet to make any comment.
