New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS) Delhi, Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh posted comfortable wins in the fourth round of the Ranji Trophy Elite Division matches that concluded Friday.

Delhi earned their first win of the season as they hammered last year’s runners-up Baroda by 10 wickets at the Ferozeshah Kotla here.

The hosts, courtesy Parvinder Awana (5/52) and Ashish Nehra (3/61), bowled out Baroda for 144 in their second innings and achieved the 48-run target in 11.4 overs. Unmukt Chand and Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten 17 and 28.

The foundation for the victory was laid be Nehra, who took a six-wicket haul in Baroda’s first innings and wicketkeeper Puneet Bisht, who scored 223 not out to ensure Delhi get a sizeable lead by day three Thursday. Delhi are now at the top of Group B with 10 points.

Mumbai completed the formalities on the final day after reducing Orissa to 163 for 7 while following on the previous night. The home team folded up 226 in the morning to hand Mumbai an innings and 210-run win at the DRIEMS Ground in Cuttack. Spinner Ramesh Powar took six wickets while Zaheer Khan took one to follow it up with his three wickets in the first innings.

Mumbai had the match in their control after making 529 for 8 in the first innings. Orissa were skittled out for 93 in reply. Mumbai are now leaders in Group A with two wins and 16 points.

Madhya Pradesh defeated Gujarat by five wickets at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore. They overcome the 198-run target in 70.5 overs for the loss of five wickets after resuming the day at 107 for four. Madhya Pradesh move up to third place in Group B with eight points.

Kerala edged past Andhra Pradesh by two runs in a Plate Division match in Kochi.
