London, Dec 28 (IANS) A restaurant owned by a Bangladeshi man in Britain has received one of its biggest take-away orders — for 500 Bangladeshi troopers in Sudan to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
The Eye of the Tiger curry house in Bournemouth, around 140 km from London, has begun preparing 1,000 poppadoms, 1,000 samosas, 100 chicken tikkas, 500 fish curries and 500 lamb biryanis.
The food will be frozen and flown to an an air base in Sudan’s Darfur region to feed 500 soldiers on New Year’s Eve, The Sun reported.
‘It’s the biggest order we’ve had. It’s a bit worrying – but we hope everything will come together in time,’ the restaurant’s 40-year-old owner Ramjan Ali said.
A 45-year-old businessman, Mustafa Azim of Wallington, south London, ordered the take-out for his squadron leader cousin and comrades.
