Beijing, Dec 28 (IANS) The Chinese capital received a record 200 million tourists this year, an official said Wednesday.

The number — both domestic and overseas tourists — rose about 15 percent year-on-year, Lu Yong of the Beijing Municipal Tourism Commission told Xinhua.

The number of foreign tourists who stayed in Beijing for at least one night broke the five-million mark for the first time.

The capital earned a revenue of 300 billion yuan ($47 billion), up 16 percent year-on-year.
