New Delhi, July 6 (Inditop.com) Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Monday allocated Rs.30.41 billion to Delhi Police, an increase of Rs.8.43 billion from last year. A total of Rs.400 million has been earmarked for developing traffic and communication network in the national capital region.
Last year, Delhi Police had received Rs.21.70 billion. However, the money for upgradation and modernisation of Delhi Police remained the same at Rs. 1.22 billion.
Delhi Police sources said most of the additional money would go towards paying salaries of policemen and the rest would be utilised in preparations for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and purchase of other logistics.
From the money given for upgradation and modernisation of the force, Rs.5 million would be given for induction of latest technology and providing better training techniques for policemen. A sum of Rs.20 million has been allocated for installing traffic signals.
