New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) India Post Monday signed an agreement with Air India for a Logistics Post Air service, targeted to help customers send their consignments to different parts of the country, especially the north-eastern region.
The service will be available from Feb 1 next.
‘This memorandum of understanding will meet the huge demand for logistics post air service for hassle free dispatch of consignments to different parts of the country including the North East,’ the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said in a statement.
The service plans to operate from 15 cities initially, including Agartala, Guwhati, Imphal from the North East. Others include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune and Thiruvanathapuram.
It will be extended to other cities in a phased manner.
While the booking, handling, packing and delivery will be done by India Post, the consignment will be transported by Air India.
