Abu Dhabi, July 7 (Inditop.com) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) based charity Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation would fund various humanitarian projects to help children in Afghanistan, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.

The charity signed an agreement with the International Save the Children Alliance to fund projects in areas such as education, public health, nutrition etc.

“The agreement signed today with the International Save the Children Alliance comes in the third phase of the Khalifa Foundation initiative to better conditions of Afghan children in the poorest areas of the world in terms of provision of basic education,” said Khalifa foundation Executive Director Mohammed Hajji Al Khoori.

In Afghanistan, almost one in five children dies before reaching the age of five, almost half the children are malnourished and only 10 percent of rural women are literate. Recent drought and rising food prices have also exacerbated high rates of malnutrition in the country.
