Kabul, Jan 30 (IANS) Thirty Taliban, led by a commander named Mullah Abdullah, surrendered Monday in Afghanistan’s Herat province, Xinhua reported.

The 30 Taliban have renounced violence and joined the peace process in the Pashtun Zarghun district, said provincial police chief Sayed Agha Saqib.
The Taliban did not make any comment.
The government set up a peace council in 2010 to encourage the Taliban to give up militancy. More than 3,000 insurgents laid down their arms over the past year.
