Kolkata, Feb 1 (IANS) Salgaocar SC, who have had some stunning performances in the last few rounds, would be facing Pailan Arrows on their home turf in an 18th round I-League match at the Salt Lake Stadium here Thursday.

Pailan Arrows, who lost their last match against Mohun Bagan but not before a tough fight, have not been able to convert the chances upfront, as a result of which they are yet to register a single win in the Championship so far.
Arrows goalkeeping Coach Tanmoy Basu, who stays confident about their chances against the Goan giants, reiterated: “Undoubtedly Salgaocar are a champion side, whom you can’t take lightly. But our team is not any runover team. We put up a good fight against Bagan, if we would have been able to convert the chances that came our way, the story would have been different.”
Salgaocar, on the other hand, are definitely back on track after the first-leg setbacks. Their last loss came against Pune FC in the 9th round. Since then they are yet to lose a match.
Salgaocar coach Karim Bencherifa said: “Every match is a new match… you got to start afresh. Though we are improving with every match, we need to stay focused if we want to improve our ranking in the League table.”
“Pailan are a young and energetic side. They command respect”, he added.
Salgaocar have 29 points from 17 matches while Pailan arrows are on 7 points from 15 matches.
