New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) Tata Motors Wednesday reported a 16 percent rise in its overall sales, including exports in January, which stood at 87,465 units over 75,423 sold in the like period of 2011.

The company said its domestic sales for the month under review grew by 14 percent at 80,382 units from 70,475 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.
Sales from exports at 7,083 vehicles in January 2012 were higher by 43 percent compared to 4,948 vehicles in January last year.
Segment-wise, the company reported an increase of 14 percent in last month for the domestic sales of its commercial vehicles which stood at 45,713 units from 40,263 units sold in January last year.
“LCV (light commercial vehicle) sales were 27,375 units, a growth of 15 percent, compared to 23,776 vehicles sold in January, last year. M&HCV (medium and heavy commercial vehicle) sales stood at 18,338 nos., a growth of 11 percent, compared to 16,487 vehicles sold in January, last year,” the company said in a statement.
According to the statement, domestic passenger car sales of Tata Motors and distribution offtake of Fiat cars in India also grew by 14 percent at 36,770 units from 32,386 units in the corresponding period of last year.
Sales of the Tata Nano were 7,723 units, higher by 15 percent compared to 6,703 in January last year.
Sales of other passenger vehicles like Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range increased by 38 percent at 6,140 units, followed by sales of Indigo range which grew by 10 percent at 9,272 units and Indica range by nine percent at 11,534 units.
Jaguar Land Rover sales in India continued their upward trend, the company said.
The cumulative sales, including exports for the fiscal grew by 11 percent at 714,235 units from 642,415 units sold in the corresponding period of last year.
