Beijing, Feb 2 (IANS) China will create specialized teams for flood control and drought relief operations in the next five years, the government said Thursday.

Water Resources Minister Chen Lei said some regions in the country are short-staffed for disaster relief operations.
To improve the situation, China has pledged to set up emergency teams at multiple levels, Xinhua quoted Chen as saying.
He said the drought-prone Hunan province has improved its emergency response mechanism in recent years and had set up 124 teams at the county-level, which has greatly facilitated relief work in the region.
