New Delhi, Feb 3 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Friday appointed a nodal agency to draft a licensing policy for food catering vans in Delhi after civic agencies evicted them from Dwarka for causing traffic jams.
The nodal agency would consist of the police commissioner, the commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), vice chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and chairperson of NDMC.
Directing DDA to place the draft policy before the court within a month, Justice Hima Kohli added that suggestions of representatives of van owners would also be considered by the panel.
The court’s directions came on a plea filed by a group of van owners that they were once stationed in markets in Dwarka but were ordered by the MCD, DDA and Delhi Police to shift as they caused traffic congestion.
The van owners alleged that they were evicted in an arbitrary and unjust manner.
