Lucknow, July 8 (Inditop.com) Unidentified men shot a German tourist in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur district before escaping with his bag containing some cash, passport and other documents, the police said Wednesday.
“Unknown assailants early Wednesday fired at George Galose, 45, after which he was rushed to the district hospital, where his condition is critical,” Additional Superintendent of Police Ramakant Prasad told Inditop.com over phone.
According to police, Galose, who was to visit Sulauni, a tourist spot in Maharajganj district near the Indo-Nepal border, had come to Lakhimpur, about 100 km from Lucknow, July 4 and was staying with a resident of Chaklakheepur town.
“Four-five men sneaked into the room where Galose was sleeping. When Galose awoke and noticed the men searching the cupboards, he raised an alarm, following which the men shot him,” said Prasad.
“We are yet to ascertain the identity of the men involved in the incident. We have detained some locals of Chaklakheepur to gather information about the unidentified assailants,” he added.
