Bucharest, Feb 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc resigned Monday along with his cabinet, media reported.

“It is the time for important political decisions. That is why I made the decision to give up the government’s mandate,” Boc said after a government meeting.
In January, several anti-government demonstrations were held in Romania where the demonstrators sought resignations of President Traian Basescu and Boc.
The citizens’ discontent in Romania, which is a member of the European Union, has been caused by the government’s decision to carry out a programme of budget cuts, which includes a reduction in social programmes.
