New Delhi, July 8 (Inditop.com) A judge of a Delhi court was allegedly roughed up by lawyers Wednesday while hearing a matrimonial case, the court staff said. The lawyers said they only had a verbal duel.

The incident took place at the Rohini District Court in northwest Delhi.

According to the court staff, the lawyers got agitated when Additional Sessions Judge Pankaj Gupta passed some adverse remarks in the case. After that, the staff said, the lawyers assaulted him.

The judge underwent medical examination. However, no police complaint was filed.

Jatan Singh, general secretary of New Rohini Bar Association, said there was only a spat.

“There is no truth in the allegation that the judge was roughed up. It was just a verbal argument between the judge and lawyers,” he said.
