Kolkata, July 8 (Inditop.com) To arrest the spiralling prices of edibles, the West Bengal government Wednesday decided to ensure strict administrative monitoring and increase supply, if needed, through imports.
“We need to take stringent steps to arrest the food price hike,” state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta told reporters after a high-level meeting at the state secretariat, Writers’ Buildings, here.
Dasgupta said strict policing and stringent administrative steps would be taken to contain price rise.
“It is important that the supply of necessary ingredients like dal (pulses) and sugar is maintained. We have to increase the import of these ingredients if necessary,” he said.
