New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) A 45-year-old Delhi Police head constable died after his bike was hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle in the capital, police said Tuesday.

Abhay Narayan Rai, who worked at Rohini South police station in north Delhi, was hit by an unidentified vehicle around 12.55 a.m. Tuesday near Azad Ground near Victor Public School in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar.
At the time of the incident, Rai was heading towards his home at Gomukh Apartments in Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh after his duty.
“He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. A case regarding the incident has been registered and hunt for the errant driver is on,” said a senior police officer.
According to a passerby, who informed police about the incident, he found Rai in a pool of blood when he was crossing the road.
Rai is survived by his wife and three daughters.
The incident took place just a day after two people, including the half-sister of Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan, were killed around 1.30 a.m. Monday, when a Swift Dzire coming at very high speed rammed into a Honda City car on August Kranti Marg near Gulmohar Park in South Delhi.
