Jodhpur, Feb 28 (IANS) Yet another case was slapped Tuesday against Congress legislator Malkhan Singh Bishnoi for obtaining a mobile SIM card on fake documents and using it to allegedly threaten CBI officers after his brother Parasram was arrested in the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi, police said.
The legislator from Luni has already been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the disappearance and murder of the nurse, missing since Sep 1, 2011.
“An FIR has been registered with Soorsagar police station in Jodhpur against the legislator. He had obtained a SIM card on the basis of bogus identification documents and issued threats to CBI officers before he himself was arrested. He made these calls to the CBI officers after arrest of his brother in December last year,” a senior police officer said.
The Rajasthan High Court Monday sought an explanation from the state government and directed it to take action on the CBI allegations that investigators and witnesses in the missing nurse Bhanwari Devi case were getting threats.
“Taking the CBI’s apprehensions seriously, the court has asked the state government to take action and submit a report by March 3,” said the state government’s counsel Pradhyuman Singh.
The bench of Justice Govind Mathur and Justice N.K. Jain Monday also accepted the CBI’s plea that accused former minister Mahipal Maderna and Malkhan Singh, both arrested in the nurse’s case, be shifted from the Jodhpur Central Jail to some other jail, and directed the government to move them.
Bhanwari Devi, who features in a CD in a compromising position with Maderna, went missing Sep 1 last year. She is believed to have been murdered and her body burnt.
