New Delhi, March 1 (IANS) Due to a fall in exports, Hyundai Motor’s February sales were down 0.3 percent at 51,855 units. It sold 52,007 units in the like period of 2011.

The largest passenger car exporter reported a sharp 22.3 percent fall in exports as it shipped only 15,050 units, down from 19,378 it sold overseas in February 2011.
The company’s domestic sales, however, grew 12.8 percent, the highest ever, at 36,805 units, up from 32,629 sold in the corresponding month of 2011.
“Even in the tough market situation Eon sales have helped us to achieve the highest ever domestic sales,” said Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor.
Segment-wise, hatchback vehicle in the A2 segment which includes Eon, Santro, i10 and i20, stood at 45,124 units followed by sedan A3 segment including Accent and Verna at 6,584 units and sports utility vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe at 147 units.
