Dhaka, March 1 (IANS) Journalists from all over Bangladesh Thursday gathered in the capital for a six-hour hunger strike to demand the arrest of the killers of a journalist couple who were murdered last month.

Meherun Runi, senior reporter of ATN Bangla TV channel, and her husband Sagar Sarowar, news editor of Maasranga Television, were killed Feb 11 in their apartment in the posh West Rajabazar area of Dhaka.
In the capital, the hunger strike began at 10 a.m. in front of the Jatiya Press Club and ended at 4 p.m., Xinhua reported.
Journalists wore black badges and ribbons, and carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. They also shouted slogans, demanding the arrest of the culprits.
Earlier in the day, journalists across the country observed a one-hour pen-down strike in their respective newspapers, news agencies, TV and radio stations and online media centres, demanding the arrest of the killers.
The Daily Star said the strike was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists, Dhaka Reporters Unity and Jatiya Press Club.
BFUJ president Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said journalists will also hold a rally in the capital March 18.
