New Delhi, July 10 (Inditop.com) India continues to face a poor doctor to patient ratio with only one doctor available for 1588 people in the country, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said Friday.

Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, he said that there are only 733,617 registered allopathic doctors in the country.

“Currently there are 289 medical colleges in the country for teaching modern system of medicine with annual intake of 33,382 who add up to the existing medical manpower,” Azad said.
