Bridgetown (Barbados), March 29 (IANS/CMC) Out-of-form batsman Darren Bravo has been replaced by Jamaican Danza Hyatt in the West Indies Twenty20 squad for the second and final game against Australia Friday.
The elegant left-hander has struggled for runs on the tour so far and selectors have allowed him to link up with Trinidad and Tobago’s side for this weekend’s semi-final against Barbados in the Regional Four-Day Championship.
Hyatt made his Twenty20 International debut a year ago against Pakistan and has so far played four matches. It is the only change in the unit which arrived here earlier Wednesday.
Selectors hope that Bravo will re-discover much needed form ahead of the three-Test series against Australia, beginning here April 7.
Bravo has been at the centre of the Windies’ batting over the last year, especially in Tests, where he has scored three centuries in his last eight innings.
However, after two half-centuries last month in the Regional Four-Day tournament, he has only managed scores of four, 16, 0, 25 and three in the five-match one-day series.
He was dismissed for 12 in the first T20 Tuesday in St Lucia. West Indies will be seeking to level the T20 series following an eight-wicket loss in that opening match.
The squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Dwayne Bravo (vice-captain), Carlton Baugh (wicketkeeper), Nkrumah Bonner, Johnson Charles, Fidel Edwards, Danza Hyatt, Garey Mathurin, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Marlon Samuels, Krishmar Santokie, Dwayne Smith.
