Chandigarh, April 2 (IANS) The Kisan Morcha farmers wing of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will conduct a ‘Rail Roko’ agitation Tuesday in eight states of the country where foodgrain is procured to demand higher prices.

Trains would be stopped by BJP activists in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
BJP Kisan Morcha national media in-charge Vineet Joshi said here Monday that the agitation was being conduct to press the UPA government at the centre to ensure implementation of the recommendations of the M.S. Swaminathan committee and provide
Rs.500 bonus per quintal of wheat.
Joshi said that the Kisan Morcha national president Om Prakash Dhankar would stage a “dharna” at Bhiwani in Haryana, 300 km from here.
“This would be a symbolic protest and would serve as a warning to the UPA government to accept the demands of the farming community,” Joshi said.
“During the Rail Roko agitation, rail traffic in Punjab would be blocked at Amritsar, Bathinda, Sangrur and Sahnewal while in Haryana, it would be stopped in Ambala, Panipat, Bhiwani, Faridabad and Tohana,” he said.
