Panaji, July 10 (Inditop.com) Goa health authorities Friday quarantined four relatives of a US-returned sailor, including his wife, after the 31-year-old man was confirmed for swine flu.
Speaking to reporters Friday evening, state epidemiologist and nodal officer for swine flu Rajendra Tamba said the four relatives had also developed swine flu like symptoms. The sailor was confirmed for the flu Thursday.
While the man’s wife has been admitted to the women’s ward of the quarantine facility at Cottage hospital, Chicalim, the others have been home quarantined after being asked to take necessary precautions, Tamba said, adding that their throat swab samples had been sent for examination to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi.
Tamba said that a 30-year-old man who had returned from Germany was also home quarantined and his throat swab sample taken for examination after he developed swine-flu like symptoms. “It is still a suspected case. The reports will confirm his status,” Tamba said.
