Kolkata, July 11 (Inditop.com) The central government plans to start a Tourism Security & Facilitation Organisation (TSFO), employing retired servicemen and central paramilitary officials, to ensure the safety of foreign tourists, an official said Saturday.
“We are in the process of starting it all over the country and West Bengal could be the first state to start TSFO, which is aimed at bringing in the idea of safety and security in tourism,” Tourism Secretary Sujit Banerjee said.
Delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of the 72nd Travel and Tourism fair, he said the centre was looking for a 50:50 partnership with the states for the initial three years when the centre would provide half the cost for setting up and running the TSFO.
After three years, it would be a 25:75 venture between the centre and the states, where the state government would bear the 75 percent of the expense, Banerjee said.
He said the government would appoint ex-servicemen and ex-central paramilitary force officers, who could help foreign tourists and share information with them, in the organisation.
As per the plans, TSFO would be set up in every district of West Bengal.
