Chongqing (China), July 12 (Xinhua) Seven people were drowned in a flash flood triggered by rainstorms in southwest China, officials said Sunday.
The incident took place at around 4 p.m. Saturday in the Tanzhangxia Canyon scenic spot in Wanzhou district, where the victims had visited as part of a 35-member tourist group.
Officials said the tourists did not take approval from the local authorities to visit the area.
Some 400 rescue workers who were assigned to locate the visitors have recovered seven bodies so far.
More people have joined the rescue efforts Sunday to search for the missing people.
