Ghaziabad, April 30 (IANS) Murdered teenager Aarushi’s mother Nupur Talwar landed in barrack No 13 of the Dasna jail here Monday on a day’s judicial custody, after her two attempts to secure interim bail failed.
Police guarded the premises as Nupur and her husband Rajesh Talwar, the co-accused in the murder, reached the court of special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge S. Lal around 10.15 a.m. She was taken into the court through a back door.
She was taken into custody Monday morning, shortly after surrendering before the special court. She applied for bail immediately after her arrest, but the CBI opposed it.
As the judge turned down her plea and posted her regular bail hearing to Tuesday, Nupur was later taken to the Dasna jail at 5.30 p.m., where she was lodged in barrack Number 13 with 59 other women inmates.
“She would given no special treatment,” said Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma.
Nupur, who was wearing a brown-coloured suit, was given four bed sheets and four blankets.
She has demanded books, said Sharma, adding they would be provided to her.
The Supreme Court had Friday directed her to surrender before the magistrate’s court at Ghaziabad, saying she could apply for bail after surrendering and the court would decide on the issue expeditiously and on merit.
