New Delhi, May 4 (IANS) A 60-year-old woman was found battered to death inside her residence in the capital early Friday morning, police said.
Shanti Devi was found dead around 9.30 a.m. Friday with severe head injuries inside her Ashok Nagar residence in east Delhi’s Mansarovar Park.
Police suspect that the elderly woman was murdered as the jewellery items she was wearing were missing.
According to the police, the victim lived alone at her single room house in Ashok Nagar after the death of her husband Mahavir Jain while her sons lived in the adjacent house.
“Her eldest son Satpal made a call to police to inform about the incident. The victim was hit on her head with a blunt object and apparently it appeared that she was murdered with the intention of robbery,” said a police official.
