London, May 27 (IANS) Robin Gibb’s son Robin John has clarified that his father died of kidney failure and not of cancer as has been reported in media.
Gibb passed away May 20.
“It wasn’t the cancer that killed my father. Those reports are wrong,” Robin John, also known as RJ, was quoted as saying by contactmusic.com
“Dad had actually gone into remission and the cancer was completely unrecognisable, it was too small to detect. No scan could see it. He actually died of kidney failure,” he added.
RJ and his mother Dwina are currently planning the singer’s private funeral, which will take place in June, and they plan to use some of the star’s songs during the service.
“We’ve been discussing hymns and songs. There will be some Bee Gee tracks, though we don’t know which yet, and maybe Roy Orbison’s ‘Crying’. My father loved Roy’s music and they were great friends,” said the 29-year-old.
