Kolkata, May 28 (IANS) At least seven people were killed and eleven injured in two road accidents in West Bengal Monday, police said.

In the first incident, four members of a family were killed and two others seriously injured after the car in which they were travelling collided head on with a speeding truck in Hooghly district, police said Monday.
“Four members of the same family, including two minors, were killed and two others grievously injured after their car hit a speeding truck coming from the other end,” a police officer said. Of those killed, three died on the spot, and one of the two injured died on way to the hospital, the officer added.
The other injured, who was initially admitted to a hospital in the district, has been referred to a city hospital.
The accident, which happened around 7.30 a.m., was caused because of over-speeding. The driver of the truck escaped from the spot, added the officer.
