New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday said it was “happy” that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has referred the coal block allocation case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Saying that the reference vindicated the party’s stand and “struggle” to get the issue probed, party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said it was because of the efforts of BJP MP Hansraj Ahir.
“BJP is happy that the CVC took cognizance of years of efforts of Hansraj Ahir,” Javadekar said.
Asked about Team Anna taking credit for the probe being ordered, Javadekar said they were not concerned with others.
“CVC has written to us, we are not concerned what others say,” he added.
The CVC Friday referred to the CBI the case of alleged irregularities in allocation of coal blocks to public and private companies.
A leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) draft report appearing in the media had pointed to a loss of over Rs.180,000 crore ($40 billion) in the allotment of coal blocks.
Opposition parties also had raised the issue in the budget session.
