Kolkata, June 2 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday laid the foundation stone for the new campus of the hallowed Bose Institute – founded by famous scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose in the early 20th century – in the satellite township of Salt Lake here.
Manmohan Singh, who is on a three-hour visit to the city, arrived Saturday with cabinet minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh.
During his brief stay at the venue, the prime minister was shown a small documentary film revolving round the life of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose and the history of the institute.
The Bose Institute, founded in 1917, is a renowned research institute in the fields of physics, microbiology, chemistry and biochemistry.
