Mumbai, June 11 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was trading 0.88 percent higher in the afternoon session Monday led by good buying support in consumer durables, realty and power stocks.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,804.89 points, was trading at 16,866.65 points in the afternoon session, up 0.88 percent or 147.78 points from its previous close at 16,718.87 points.
The wider 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was trading 0.93 percent higher at 5,115.65 points.
The BSE consumer durables index was up 152.35 points, the realty index was up 33.22 points and the power index was up 34.72 points.
Major Sensex gainers were Sterlite Inds, up 4.37 percent at Rs.105; Tata Power, up 3.88 percent at Rs.97.80; Bajaj Auto, up 2.71 percent at Rs.1,570; Coal India, up 2.33 percent at Rs.334.20 and Hindustan Unilever, up 1.45 percent at Rs.434.55.
The only four Sensex losers were Cipla, down 1.16 percent at Rs.305.60; Sun Pharma, down 0.65 percent at Rs.580; ONGC, down 0.29 percent at Rs. 258.50 and Dr Reddys Lab, down 0.21 percent at Rs.1.618.20.
